Playing Blues on the Mountain Dulcimer
Wednesdays 1 pm MDT Beginning Sept 29th, 2021.
Playing blues on the mountain dulcimer is accessible and fun. We'll learn the chord shapes, progressions and scales in order to play in DAd tuning. Our text will be Playing Blues on the Mountain Dulcimer. Armed with the understanding and tools of chords, scales, rhythms and techniques, we can play our blues into the corner for awhile!—This class equips us to do just that!
A step-by-step over 6-weeks progressive approach yields the "stickiest" learning.
Screen to Screen Zoom Class, a PDF copy of Steve's Playing Blues on the Mountain Dulcimer, .mp3 files for priming the pump and reinforcement, archive videos of classes each week.
1 pm MDT = 12 noon PDT = 2 pm CDT = 4 pm EDT = 7 pm UTC

Tuned to D-A-d, a Mountain Dulcimer is perfect for playing Pentatonic Minor and Blues Scales in keys OTHER than D!
Each week we'll have tunes which make use of the skills we are gaining and sharpening.

Using the Dulcimer Layout to play Blues Chords
We will get comfortable playing back-up chords for typical 12-bar blues progressions in several keys.
Swing Rhythms and other skills
like string bending, tremolos, and chunking are some of the special things we'll explore for playing this genre.
