Intermediate-Level 3 Hammered Dulcimer Lesson-Matthew Dickerson

Alright. Let's start taking it apart note by note. We'll begin with an intro, which has 3 pickup notes, which consists of a triplet. A, b, and c sharp. Those are our 3 pickup notes and then we play a descending d chord.
Starting up here on d, a, f sharp, and then ending there with d. So remember, we start the song with our left and we alternate throughout the entire tune. Left, right, left, right, left, right. So, going back to our intro here, we have the triplet, descending d chord, d, a, f sharp, and d. So, since we ended that phrase with our left, we go on to the next phrase with our right.
And this is a repeating phrase, so I'm going to play it for you. And, we're going to learn it and then we're going to go back and play the intro and move right on to this phrase that I'm about to teach you. And we're going to repeat it 3 times. And this repeating phrase sounds like this. I'll do that again.
Alright. So note for note, we start with our right, and we go g, b, a, g, f sharp, d, f sharp, and then d. And that consists of that phrase. I'll do it again. Starting here with my right hand on the right side of the treble bridge, g, b, a, g, f sharp, d, f sharp, and then d.
So if I play that 3 times through it sounds like this. Okay? Now, the last phrase ends a little bit different and I'll get to that in a second. So now let's combine that with our intro. So remember we started out with our 3 pickup notes.
Remember we started there with our left hand and then our descending D chord. And then our repeating phrase. And then that last note is a, E. And we play that with our right. And then we go back and repeat it through.
Starting here on the left side of the treble bridge. And then last note, E. We hit that with our right hand there. So let's just play it one more time before we move on. We start with our triplet, so play along with me.
We're I'm just gonna go ahead and do what I just did a little dulcimer, and I wanna see if you can play with me. Alright? We're starting with our left hand, left side of the triple bridge. We'll start with that triplet descending d chord, and then we're doing our repeating phrase 3 times, and then we end with one more note right here on e. Alright?
Here we go. 1, 2, 3, 4.
